Drama Club is Just Around the Corner!

The highlight of the Beye Theatrical year is about to begin. The production of the 2010-2011 school year is "Music Man". Auditions will be held after Winter Break. On Wednesday, January 5 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm will be the singing and dancing auditions. On Thursday, January 6, from 3:00 - 5:00 will be the acting auditions for those students who would like to try for a lead part. A person wishing to be a dancer or chorus member need only be present at Wednesday's audition. All interested students brought home a paper today with details about the tryouts, as well as the audition, rehearsal, and performance schedule. Anyone who wants to be in the production needs to return a permission form signed by the students and parent, along with a $30.00 fee.

THE PERMISSION/COMMITMENT FORM IS DUE TO MS FOGG BY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17.

Penthouse Winter Breakfast

On Thursday, December 16, the Penthouse will be having its annual Winter Breakfast. The eating will begin at 9:30 am and go until we are sated. Last Friday each student should have brought home a slip indicating what they were to bring to contribute to this breakfast. If you have not seen this, please inquire with your child to its whereabouts. If you are unable to bring the items requested we need to know as soon as possible so that we can reassign it. You are more than welcome to come and join us on Thursday morning as well!

Report Cards

On Friday, December 10 student's brought home the report cards for our first trimester. Everything that was in the envelope they brought home is for you to keep. Please sign the envelope and return it as soon as possible so that we can use it for the next two report cards that come home. We are asking that the students have the report cards back to us by tomorrow, December 14. Your help with this is appreciated!

Hubbard Street Update

Our class was fortunate to see the Hubbard Street Dance Company perform Harold and the Purple Crayon at the Harris Theater on December 9. It was a wonderful production that allowed the students to participate using motions from their seats. After winter break we will begin our weekly work with the professionals that will be coming to our classroom every Thursday afternoon for ten weeks. The culmination will be a performance by our own students in the auditorium in mid March.

Culture Boxes

On December 7 the class was given the assignment of creating a culture box. The assignment sheet was to have been signed by a parent or guardian at home and returned last week. If you have not seen the assignment, please ask your child to look at the sheet that they have giving all the details about the assignment. Our goal is that every student have each of the 10 cards that are to be included in their boxes, in rough draft form before winter break. Each student needs to decorate a box - the size of a shoe box - that is representative of them, their family, and their culture. The total assignment is due in final copy form by Friday, January 7. If there are any days over the break when your child is needing something to do, feel free to suggest their culture box!

The September summaries are due on Tuesday, September 28. we have sent home a list of summary options at the beginning of the year to which you can refer for a variety of presentations that students can make.
